Thanks for Giving

Leftovers

Thanksgiving Leftovers

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving with your loved ones.

I made sure that I brought my leftovers back to school with me to make sure I had some good food to eat during exam week.

The good thing about holidays you have extra leftovers, however you can always go back home get a cooked meal and then make you a to go box. If you eat out a restaurant you could also save those leftovers too.

Things You need:
  • Leftovers
  • Refrigerator
  • Microwave

Cold Days Hot Drinks

Hot Chocolate

It is getting cold outside and some places are much colder. So don’t forget to bundle up on your way to class.
When I was back I use to love to drink a cup of hot chocolate on the way to school on very cold days.
I’m sure that you get your dose of Starbucks on the way to class, however sometimes the funds are not looking too bright.
But you are still cold and in need of a nice hot drink, what do?
This is when having some hot chocolate packets in your room comes in handy! You also get to save up for your next cup of coffee.

ONIONS!!!

How to Get Rid of Onion Smell Out Your Mouth

In the video above is one of my favorite childhood videos to watch, the original Little Rascals. Never in a million years did I think that me and Alfalfa would have something in common! Overtime I have developed a love for RAW onions but I can never get rid of the HORRIBLE after taste and smell.

I had to figure out how to make my smelly breath vanish.

When I eat onions I make sure I brush my teeth and tongue, however sometimes I still wake up with an onion after taste and things that have worked that I've tried are:

  • Brushing with Baking Soda
  • French Fries
  • Water
  • Lemonade
  • Gum
I usually first start with rinsing my out with just water, then I brush my teeth but I pay close attention to my tongue because that's where the smell is being captive!

Okay if I STILL taste the onion after brushing, which is possible, I eat something bland like potatoes (French fries) to neutralize my taste buds.

While eating I make sure that I have water or lemonade to drink to also help. In the video it says prepare your own lemonade... well I didn't do that and on top of that it was pink lemonade and it worked just fine for me.

Lastly for safe measure I always chew minty gum throughout the day.

I hope this helped you as much as it helps me!

Noodles Noodles Noodles!

Noodles: By Guest Micah Proctor

Micah (Mee-Sha) and I have been friends for a very long time, and over the years I noticed how creative she can be with food. I remember going over Micah's house and she was always thinking of easier ways to her make favorite foods. So I thought Micah would be a great person to have as guest on my blog!

I am more than happy to share my friend's very creative ways with you and I hope you enjoy! :)

Noodles are a dorm room must. And not just Ramen noodles but spaghetti, bow ties or even macaroni noodles can be made right in your microwave. My personal favorite is easy and quick, something you can make in between classes or taking a quick study break.

Step 1: Fill a microwave safe bowl full of water and add the spaghetti noodles, break them in half for best results.

Step 2: Heat for 1 minute then stir; repeat until the noodles are the desired firmness. Usually about 5 minutes total.

Step 3: Remove from microwave and drain.

Step 4: Add sauce and cheese and other desired toppings.

Step 5: Enjoy! You have your own Italian feast in your room!

Jell-O

Jell-O you ask, well believe it or not I have made Jell-O in the microwave!

One day my friend was really sick and could not really hard foods and asked me to make her some Jell-O.

Of course I asked her why I couldn’t just buy already made Jell-O but nope she went on and on how it doesn’t taste the same.

So I made Jell-O in the Microwave.

I just simply followed the direction on the box with a twist of course!

Jell-O
  1. I put what I thought what was a cup of water into a microwavable bowl (did not have measuring cups at the time).
  2. I then put the bowl with water into the microwave for 6 minutes. It wasn’t boiling but the water was steaming and extremely hot!
  3. Then I poured the Jell-O mix in and mixed until the powder dissolved, like the directions tell you too.
  4. Then I poured another cup of water in the bowl and put it in the refrigerator until it was a solid.
  5. My friend was upset she had to wait for it to become a solid but enjoyed it once she could eat it.

Trail Mixology

Trail Mix

Almond Trail Mix

Have you ever had a bag of trail mix and you ended up with a bag full of stuff you didn't like?
I know I have!
Well there is a solution to avoid having to pick around all the unwanted items in your bag of trail mix.
It is time to say good-bye to accidently picking up that nasty raisin and hello solution!

MAKE YOUR OWN!
I know its crazy but it is so simple. All you have to is go to the store and buy all the things you like to eat in your trail mix.

Here is what I use to make my trail mix:

I make up my own portions it depends how I feel and what I want most at the moment.

Then I put it in a large plastic bag to mix it all together.

I hope you enjoy this idea and please make it your own, unlike me you might like raisin.

Camping Indoors

Dump Cake

Camp Fire
This summer I was given the opportunity to work for a Girl Scout Camp called Camp Pisgah! It was a wonderful experience and I really enjoyed working there and I miss it at times.

Every Wednesday we would cookout with the girls and I looked forward to building fires and making our meals over the fire… it’s not that easy making a fire when rained earlier that day.

Anyways my favorite thing to make, over the fire, was dessert and I always tried my hardest to convince a group of girls each week to make Dump Cake. Dump Cake was my favorite it was so good!

So one day I thought to myself if I can make dump cake over a fire I’m pretty sure I can make it in the microwave!

This recipe is meant to be made for one individual

You’ll need:
  • A Sweet Tooth
  • A deep medium Microwavable bowl
  • Fork

Ingredients:
  • ¾ cups Pie Filling
  • ½ cup of Boxed Cake Mix
  • 1 ½ Stick of Butter

Cake and Pie Filling Ideas:
  •  Yellow Cake: Apple, Cherry, Strawberry, or Blueberry pie filling
  • Chocolate Cake: Cherry, Strawberry, or Raspberry pie filling
Step 1: Take your bowl and use 1/2 a stick of butter and butter the bowl very well, to make sure you avoid things from sticking.

Step 2: Pour the pie filling into the bowl and then slice half a stick of butter up and place it on top of your choice of pie filling.

Step 3: Then pour cake mix evenly on top of the pie filling and butter. DO NOT MIX!

Step 4: Next you’re going to slice the rest of the butter up and place the slices evenly along the cake mix

Step 5: Take the prepped Dump Cake to the microwave and leave it in for 10 minutes it is normal to see the mixture bubbling... BUBBLING IS GOOD!

When the microwave is done you have your Dump Cake! Your Dump Cake should look like a cake/pie when done. It is normal to see some cake mix not really baked just mixed it in to the rest of the cake and you should be fine!
Enjoy!

Make Me Cheesy

Here is an image that came up in a search for "Noodle" at MorgueFile

Ramen and Something Special

I’m no fan of Ramen Noodles but sometimes that’s the only thing to eat in your room. However, you can get tired of eating the same thing over and over again.

Sometimes you have to spice things up. You know have something other than the norm.

How do you change already flavored noodles?

KRAFT’S VELVEETA CHEESE!

Velveeta Cheese

Instead of putting the seasoning that comes with the pack replace it with Velveeta Cheese to spices things up a bit.
